So let us start with the humble sausage. There are a number of varieties available but my favourite sausage is made in Lincolnshire. Produced with a hint of seasoning, the Lincolnshire Sausage is renowned as one of the country's best wholesome sausage meats. Of course the best produced meat is organic and there are a number of farmers in Lincolnshire who ensure their quality meat only comes from the very finest pigs.
A traditional British sausage is juicy and plump with a high meat content (70% or more) and made from quality British meat, fresh herbs, breadcrumbs and natural skins. The best sausages are made by specialist sausage producers. These are either traditional butchers or a growing band who are both farmers (usually organic, rare breed or free range) and sausages makers. The supply of meat is carefully selected by producers who visit individual meat suppliers for an accurate evaluation of what would constitute the best produced sausage.
